Glamorgan Vale, February 16, 1939
Mr. A.C. Rossow passed away on February 3, after a long illness, at the age of 87 years. He was born on 14 November 1852. At the age of 14 he left for Australia, and was ship-wrecked off the American coast. There he had to exchange English money for American money. Mr Embrey (son-in-law), has a dollar given to him as a keep sake brought back from America. When the late Mr Rossow landed there were only a few white people, and one of his brothers-in-law was taken by the blacks and killed. Mr. A.C. Rossow married Miss Mary Ann Jamieson at Rosewood on 14 January 1875 and they lived there for some time then moved to Roma then to Ipswich, where August Carl worked for 32 years in the railway yards. They had 10 children. Two died in infancy and in 1935 one son, Levi, and one daughter, Sarah, passed away. Mrs. Rossow died 15 years ago. From then the late Mr Rossow lived with his daughter, Mrs. F. Embrey, Lark Hill. He is survived by three sons, Messrs Joe, August and William all of Ipswich, and three daughters Mrs Walker, Sydney, Mrs. Ruddell, Warwick, and Mrs. Embrey, Lark Hill. He also leaves a brother, Mr. C.A. Rossow, Nanango, a sister-in-law Mrs. Brooker, New Zealand, two sons-in-law, Mr. Ruddell, Warwick, and Mr. Embrey, Lark Hill, 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

ROSSOW.-In loving memory of our dear father, August
Charles Rossow, who departed this life, 3 February 1939.
With tears I saw you sinking,
I watched you pass away,
I tended you with every care,
But could not make you stay,
I watched beside your bedside,
As the lonely minutes passed,
And my heart was breaking
As I saw you breathe your last.
(Inserted by his loving daughter and son-in-law).
