R. A. F. BADKE.
BOONAH, September 1.
Mr. August Ferdinand Badke, a retired farmer well-known in the Boonah district, collapsed and died at his home, Park-street, Boonah, this afternoon. He was about to take his customary walk into the main street of the town about 3 o'clock, and as he turned to go after bidding farewell to his wife, he was overcome by a seizure and expired almost immedtately. Owing to ill-health, Mr. Badke retired from farming at Roadvale several years ago, and he spent his time chiefly in gardening at his home, a hobby in which he was regarded as having an extensive knowledge. He was an enthusiastic worker in the intersts of the local Church of England, and took a lively interest in all movements for the progress of the Church and other local bodies. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Badke, he was born in Brandenburg (Germany), 64 years ago, and he came to Queensland with his parents at an early age. He was married at Roadvale to Miss Anna Martha Zerner, a member of a well-known Fassifern family. He was engaged in farming at Roadvale, when ill-health forced him to relinguish heavy work. He is survived by his widow, one son, and three daughters. A post-portem examination will be conducted tomorrow morning.
