OBITUARY
MR. HENRY POCOCK
The death occurred recently of Mr. Henry Pocock, motor bus proprietor, of Norman Park, Brisbane. The late Mr. Pocock was born at Booval on March 7, 1885, and was a son of the late Mr. Henry Pocock, sen., building contractor, of Booval. He was educated at Bundamba State School, the late Mr. C. A. H. Watson then being head teacher. After leaving school he was apprenticed to his father in the building trade. After he had completed his apprenticeship there was a slump in house building. The late Mr. Pocock secured employment at Whitwood Colliery, owned by Stafford Bros., and he continued working in the coal mines until work in the building trade revived. He then was engaged in building contracting work. Many houses in and around Booval, Bundamba, and adjacent districts were erected by him. For health reasons he sold his house and property at Booval and moved to Manly, where he lived for two years, carrying on work as a contractor. In the year 1920 he relinquished build ing work and in his own account started a motor bus run from North Quay to Norman Park. The new venture proved a success. Owing to indifferent health, the late Mr. Pocock disposed of his transport business and was on the eve of completing arrangements just before his death. The funeral took place at the South Brisbane cemetery. Rev. J. Bean, of the East Brisbane Methodist Circuit, conducted the services at the funeral parlour and the graveside. The late Mr. Pocock leaves two daughters, Mrs. J. Betts, of Caboolture, and Miss Thelma, also a son, Ronald, and a brother, Mr. H. J. Pocock, of Bundamba.
